About the event
Yin yoga is a form of low to the ground, static stretch to assist the body in releasing toxins, inflammation and chronic pain. Yin yoga is a powerful way to build resilience in the nervous system and build emotional balance. The first hour is a carefully crafted sequence of yin stretches to work through the body. You may stay or go if needed, we will spend 20+ minutes until 8:45ish in yoga nidra, a delicious relaxing guided meditation, to fully release, restore , and integrate balance and flow in body, mind and heart.
This is a four week series, the cost is for the series, that runs to November. Please select the first class to pay for the series, this platform limits how to select classes, when you select the October 13th date, you are enrolled for the full series.
Mariposa Day Spa is a lovely newly redesigned spa in Snohomish, WA. This beautiful mindfulness studio space’s windows face calming nature, and the energy is welcoming to all. No special equipment needed, just a yoga mat, and maybe a small blanket or towel.
What if I am a Yoga newbie?
No worries! Yin yoga meets you where you are. We offer straps, blocks, blankets and bolsters to make space and hold space for our joints to settle and find stillness. When we find this still place, the nervous system is given permission to release— tensions, emotions, memories, pain, whatever we carry in our bodies, this is the safe way to offer space to change. Yin yoga is a transformative healing practice that requires no experience, ability or fancy clothes. Come as you are, leave transformed!
I noticed this class goes to 8:45, I have to get to work! What do I do?
The yin portion of this class finishes at 8:30AM, then we find restorative poses, settle in, and follow Terra Lea’s guidance in a visualization and relaxation practice called yoga nidra. You are welcome to leave quietly after the resting period before we transition into guided meditation. Allowing space until 9:00 AM allows participants to fully experience the benefits of this deep healing meditation, and to come out slowly and mindfully, to begin the day with clarity, focus, energy and calm.
What do I bring?
If you are new to this class, please purchase the add-on supplies. Comfortable clothes to allow movement and ease, water bottle, a yoga mat, maybe an eye pillow or small neck pillow. We have blankets, bolsters, straps, blocks, extra mats for cushioning, tea and water. Please refrain from essential oils, lotions, or other products that may cause a reaction for someone else. Masks are optional, we stay in one place for the duration of the class, the doorways allow air flow, and teachers test regularly to assure health and wellbeing. Let’s care for ourselves, and each other. Look forward to seeing you at the Spa!
